The Fine Arts Museum of Lyon is situated in the Palace de Saint-Pierre overlooking Place des Terreaux. The Palace, designed in the Baroque style, was originally an abbey with a central courtyard that now hosts a beautiful public garden. On the opposite side of the main square, numerous residential buildings surround another potential courtyard and the Church of Saint Pierre. Our proposal focuses on reimagining the values and functions of the ground floor spaces, guided by two primary goals: enhancing the existing courtyards and adding value to the museum through a more inviting entrance7hall and new pathways. The main operations include the valorization of the ground floor through ateliers, art workshops, and laboratories, a new building in the courtyard housing a winter garden and a bookstore, and finally, another new building hosting the new hall and logistical spaces.
