“Where the land ends and the sea begins”, a descending path that guides the visitors of Capo da Roca from the depth of the sheer cliff until the immensity of the ocean. The project appears as a “walking” landmark, that guides the visitors through a unique and memorable experience. A concrete structure marks the entrance to the retreat, framing the views of the horizon and enhancing the magnificent natural landscape. From here, the visitor descends into the interior of the cliff, feeling its weight and depth in a gradually darker atmosphere. Then, a new perspective of the ocean appears at first framed by the rocks and after completely open to the horizon. The sky appears again above his head and sunlight inundates the atmosphere. The route continues through a path, suspended above the ocean, allowing the visitor to walk beyond the edge of the cliff. As he reaches the end of the path, the lookout point, the sound of the waves gets louder and the visitor directly faces the immensity of the ocean and the openness of the horizon. Just below is located the inner space, a vertical shelter where the visitor can rest and take refuge while contemplating the breathtaking views. In the end, this unique sensory experience takes the visitor under the sea, wrapped in the calm of the depths.
